Crochet Flora Ruffle Tank Top

November 21, 2023

This crochet ruffle tank top is the spring top of your dreams! The delicate details of the ruffles and keyhole back, elevates this simplistic tank top to be a classic piece for your wardrobe. Using a sport weight cotton yarn, the Flora Ruffle Tank Top is lightweight and breezy – perfect for those warm summer days! This crochet pattern includes 7 sizes ranging from XS-3XL.

This crochet ruffle tank top uses basic crochet stitches, but the ruffle details and keyhole back is the perfect way to add feminine charm to this tank top! Not a fan of ruffles? No problem! The ruffles can easily be omitted for a great staple tank top for spring.

This crochet ruffle tank top is incredibly versatile and can be worn in an endless amount of ways. Pair with white jeans or a flowy skirt depending on your mood and events. My personal favorite way to wear this top is with linen shorts – the perfect combination of feminine and style. The possibilities are truly endless with this top!

PATTERN:

Front Panel

Ch 73(81, 89, 101, 113, 125, 137)

Row 1: 1 hdc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 hdc in every ch across (72, 80, 88, 100, 112, 124, 136). Ch 1, turn.

These photos show the FRONT PANEL, at 44 Rows, which measures 19 inches on length. According to the pattern, I need to reach Row 52. (see photos above & below)

Row 2-44(46, 46, 48, 48, 50, 52): 1 hdc in every st (72, 80, 88, 100, 112, 124, 136). Ch 1, turn.

This photo shows the panel folded/doubled. This measures 17.5 inches, which doubled means that my FRONT PANEL measures 35 inches in total. (see above photo)

NOTE: According to the pattern, I need to reach Row 52. After trying the FRONT PANEL on my body, I decided to modify the total number of Rows to a total of 48, at this particular step. This results in a rectangle that measures a total of 21 inches in height, by 35 inches wide. (see above photos)

NOTE: I marked the CENTER POINT of my rectangular FRONT PANEL, and I placed a stitch marker. This is the CENTER POINT of my NECKLINE. It is marked at 17.5 inches. (see above photo)

To begin shaping the NECKLINE & SHOULDERS:

This is the original pattern photo, which clearly indicates the center point. Then, I counted the number of stitches on either side to determine how WIDE to indicate the NECKLINE. (see above photo)

NOTE: After marking the CENTER of the FRONT PANEL, I counted 12 stitches on either side of the CENTER, and I placed a stitch marker at each of these points. This indicates the WIDTH of the NECKLINE. (see above photo)

Below is what the back panel should look like (it may differ slightly based on size)

ASSEMBLY:

Seam on the dotted lines.

Sleeves:

Attach yarn under the arm, approximately 1(1, 1.5, 1.5, 2, 2, 2.5) inch above the side seam (indicated by the dot). Ch 1

NOTE: The following is how I modified Rounds 1--6:

Round 1: I chained 76 stitches, and marked the center point at 38 st (I marked it with a piece of yarn). I followed the pattern and hdc in each stitch across (total of 76 sts).

Round 3: 3 hdc in in st, 2 hdc in next 4 sts --repeat 4 times. Work 3 hdc in the next

Round 1: Evenly work 64, 68, 72, 76, 80, 86, 92 hdc around the arm (64, 68, 72, 76, 80, 86, 92). Ch 1.

Round 2: 3 hdc in st, 2 hdc in next 4 sts repeat a total of 4 times. Work 3 hdc in the next 16(18, 20, 24, 28, 34, 38) sts. 3 hdc in st, 2 hdc in next 4 sts repeat a total of 4 times

Round 3-6: 1 dc in every st (the stitch count does not matter)

Fasten off.

Repeat on the other sleeve.

Fasten off and weave in all loose ends.

Neckline:

Attach the yarn at the back. Evenly hdc around the neck. At the point indicated by the arrow, sl st into the stitch at the point. Ch 5, sl st into the next st (this creates the loop for the button to go through). Continue around the neck line. Sl st into the first st of the round.

Sew the pearl button on the opposite point of the back.

Fasten off, weave in all loose ends.
